Match Trivia
On Hampden Park, Glasgow, Estimated attendance 56,000. Drawings (gate and stands) £1485 5s 9d. In the three games it is estimated that £5030 have been drawn at gates and stands. The Rangers opened the game in very bright fashion, Adams having to save from Smith in the first minute. Immediately following Kyle had a hard drive stopped by one of his own side, and Campbell and Livingstone in turn finished weakly. With the Rangers backs however going very shakily, the game took a complete turn and a bad mistake by Jackson allowed Somers to score a very simple goal. Play was fast thereafter, both sets of forwards showing improved form McLean, before the interval scored for the Celtic, who led by 2 goals to 0 when ends were changed. The Rangers backs again opened badly when play was resumed, Craig twice missing the ball completely. Bennett was very prominent on the one side and Smith and Kyle on the other, but the half-back play on both sides was so dogged that further scoring looked out of the question. Latterly however Hamilton cleverly beat Mitchell and crossing to Kyle that player scored. The last quarter of an hour was the most exciting of the match, but while the Rangers were brilliant in the outfield they failed against Adams who gave a marvellous display of goalkeeping.
