Match Trivia
Falkirk managed to avenge their recent Scottish Cup defeat by the Rangers by the same score the Ibrox men ousted them from the national competition. The match was full of interest, and a high standard of play was maintained throughout. The middle lines were the best division on both sides, and the forward play lost in effectiveness on this account. Stark for the Rangers and Anderson on the home side were the outstanding men, although their colleagues were little behind in effective work. Simpson the Falkirk flyer, found in Hendry a sprinter of equal pace, and consequently did not shine as usual. Law however, found Davidson more than he could watch with comfort, the home left winger playing one of his best games. Other players of note on the home side were McIntosh, Reid and Leishman. McDougall may yet prove a capable centre, although Logan was missed. Newbigging gave a splendid display and was distinctly unlucky to misjudge the second goal, which came for a long drooping shot by Collins. Dickie was the smartest and best of the Rangers forwards, and was well supported by Livingstone, whose form was much in advance of his League International display. Kyle played well up to McFarlane, but the latter finished poorly. The Rangers goal was the result of a cute move by Kivlichan who at close quarters fairly deceived Allan by feinting to shoot to the right and tipping through to the left
