At Clune Park in presence of 8000 spectators. The game opened with the Port hotly pressing against the wind and an unsteady defence almost contributed to Rangers downfall. But the visitors recovering from the early excitement played up in their best style. After eight minutes Mainds scored the first goal against his old club from a magnificent drive. The Port worked hard but lacked combination, and their efforts were easily repulsed by Jackson and May. Half an hour gone, Kyle sent in a beauty, which Shaw failed to stop.
