Match Trivia

This return League Match was the bill of fare submitted at Ibrox on Tuesday, and attracted a 5,000 crowd. Alex Smith was conspicuous first half with several sparking runs. He was brought down early in the game, for which a penalty was awarded, but McColl struck the crossbar and though both defences were tested, neither side had scored at the interval. Melville played well in the Thistle mid-line, and was very much in the way of the home attack. Rangers’ goal came about five minutes from the finish, as the result of good work between Smith and McColl, the latter finally giving Howden no chance. At Meadowside a similar result prevailed in favour if the Thistle, so that the teams have divided the season’s League points
