Match Trivia
Played at Ibrox before about 8000 spectators. Rangers had the advantage of a strong wind in the first half, but they played very much below form, and were easily held in check by the opposing defence, and in fact the Parkhouse proved much cleverer in attack then the ground team, and gave Sinclair a lot of work to do. It was just three minutes from the interval when Robertson with a chance drive opened the scoring. Halftime – Rangers 1 goal: Ayr Parkhouse 0. The play in the second half was more animated so far as Rangers were concerned, and they passed and shot in their best form, the wind giving them little trouble. From a centre by Smith, Chalmers scored Rangers second goal, but although they continued to press they could not add to their score. A grand break through by the visitors centre ended in Sinclair being beaten with a fast long shot, and play continued keen to the close. Result – Rangers 2: Ayr Parkhouse 1. Drawings amounted to £150
