Match Trivia
Played on Ibrox Park before about 35,000 spectators. Hibs played with the wind in the first half, and right from the start they took up the running, and were down on Dickie early, where only sheer luck saved the Rangers from an early downfall. The visitors continued to have the better of the exchanges, their style being full of life and precision and the Rangers were kept mostly on the defence. After half an hours play Divers got through, though he was most evidently offside, and to the close of this half play was pretty even, but there was no further scoring. In the second half the Rangers improved very little, and instead of having the best of the game with the wind they were forced back to defend, and McCartney scored a second point. McPherson then left the field, and Rangers were left with four forwards. The visitors continued to force the pace, and several times they were down on Dickie, but he managed to keep back further scoring. Near the close Rangers railed, but it was of no avail, and they could not find an opening. McCartney had his leg broken near the close, and had to be carried off. Result Hibs 2: Rangers 0. The money drawn at the gates amounted to £719, and at the stands £146.
