Match Trivia

The undecided tie between these clubs was played at Ibrox Park, before about 15,000 spectators. In the first half the Third had the wind and sun behind them, and had most of the play, but their forwards were much too anxious to work their way close in on goal before shooting, with the result that they could not score. Near the interval the Rangers right wing broke away and from a pass across goal by Hamilton Smith scored. Halftime result – Rangers 1 goal: Third Lanark 0. Immediately on the restart the Rangers rushed through, and Hamilton after luckily beating Thomson shot past Raeside. Gibson met with a slight accident, and was of little service to his team, and after Smith and Hamilton had added the third and fourth goals he retired. The game was pretty even at times Davidson leading his forwards well, but the Third’s halves were not so successful as they were a week ago. Graham the new Rangers man, played well at outside right, and towards the close he scored. Result – Rangers 5: Third Lanark 0.
