Played at Ibrox Park before 4000 spectators. Rangers were considerably under strength still they forced the pace at the start, but their fine work was nullified by the visitors rear ranks, whose defence was of a most resolute order. Latterly the Thistle halfbacks and forwards fielded the ball splendidly and a stray shot from Paul foot took effect. The rest of this half was equally contested and when the teams crossed over the Thistle led by 1 goal to 0. In the second half the Rangers superiority was noticeable, and in the course of half an hour McPherson scored 2 goals and J Miller 1. Just before the close Auchencloss accidentally put the ball into his own net, and the points were secured by the Rangers with a majority of 4 goals to 1.
