Match Trivia

Played at Ibrox Park before about 7000 spectators. A strong wind was blowing across the field, but it was scarcely sufficient to account for the poor display of both teams. From the start play was most erratic, little attempt being made at combination, and although both goals were visited very frequently, the shooting was so poor that halftime arrived without any scoring. In the second half there was a slight improvement at the start, and Campbell had some good chances, but he was all off near goal, as was also his partner Wilkie. The Third’s defence was very safe, and broke up what little attempt at combined play the Rangers made. McPherson was about the only man on the Rangers side who kept his head, and had he had anything like decent support he ought to have scored more than once. Up to the close the issue was in doubt, but time was called with the score – Rangers 0: Third Lanark 0.
