Match Trivia
This game was played at Capplielow Park before fully 12,000 spectators. Rangers kicked off towards the west goal and during the first half of the game had matters much their own way. The home team seemed overawed by the importance of the occasion and failed do little to stem the tide. Four goals were scored by the Rangers and on play they were well deserved. The team has seldom been seen to better advantage, and their playing and passing were treats. In the second half the home team showed up somewhat better and scored twice, both points being credited to Rennie, but the home defence was weak, and Rangers scored three points, A Smith, Hyslop and McPherson being severally responsible. The game thus ended – Rangers 7: Morton 2. The display of the visitors was most creditable all through, but Morton were much behind their usual. The only players worthy of mentions are Chalmers, outside left and Rennie right half, both of whom worked like Trojans. The gate realised £367 and the stand £59
