These teams met at Ibrox ark in presence of over 4000 spectators. The visitors kicked off, but the Rangers pressed forwards. The ball however, went behind. From the goal kick Dundee secured two corners in succession, of which nothing came. Cowan and Boys then got away, and from a pass Barker nearly scored, but Barrett managed to clear. Keeping up the pressure, the Rangers got the ball in the net, but an appeal for offside against Barker was sustained, and the point went for nothing. A corner for the Rangers followed, but after dodging about the Dundee goal the ball was sent behind. After twenty minutes play Gibson for the Rangers scored the first goal of the match with a shot from thirty yards out, Barker, McPherson and Gray meanwhile looking after the goalkeeper. The Dundee tried hard to equalise, but at halftime the game stood 1 to 0 in favour of the local club. On resuming the Rangers pressed. Barker and Darroch had a bout, which ended in the latter conceding a corner. The ball was well placed, but Keillor cleared. A second corner for the Rangers followed, with a like result. After Haddow had repelled the Dundee forwards, the Rangers again got within shooting distance, when Gray was fouled by Darroch. The referee awarded the Rangers a penalty kick, but Cowan who took the try missed. From the goal kick Sawers started a run. He got through the halfback division, and passed out to the left, when Dickson tried a shot, but it missed by inches. Towards the close the Rangers pressed severly but the result remained unaltered, viz:– Rangers 1 goal: Dundee 0.
