The Rangers having loss the toss, kicked off against the breeze. Cherrie intercepted the kick, but sent the ball into touch. Play was rather tame for several minutes till Kerr got possessions. He initiated a run, which nearly proved successful, his final shot being smartly fisted out by the Clyde custodian. The Clyde pressed in turn, and a splendid overhead shot by McCann just missed by inches, the ball going over the bar. From a foul McCann scored the first goal for the Clyde. Nettled at this reverse the Rangers made matters warm for their opponenets. Within a couple of minutes Kerr equalised with a shot, which no goalkeeper could have saved. Keeping up the pressure, the Rangers soon scored a second goal J McPherson scoring the point shortly before the whistle sounded. Halftime result – Rangers 2: Clyde 1. On resuming J McPherson had a brilliant run, and scored the third goal for the Rangers. The Clyde made strenuous efforts to improve their position, but they could not get through the Rangers defence. Meanwhile the Rangers forwards were playing a grand game. Time after time they beat the Clyde back division, but McCorkindale was ever on the spot, and turned away shot after shot. At last a beauty from Mitchell bet him, and the Rangers got their fourth point. Play became very fast after this. The Clyde increased their efforts to score, but it was no use. They were met at every point by either Gow or Drummond. Result – Rangers 4 goals: Clyde 2 goals.
