Match Trivia

On the ground of the Clyde. There was an attendance of about 4000 spectators. The game started with the Rangers kicking off. The ball went into touch, and Johnstone and McInnes brought the ball down the left, but McCreadie gave relief. Wind and sum were against the Rangers. The Clyde early showed the way, but wakening up the Rangers through the instrumentality of Kerr, got into Clyde territory, where McCreadie kicked behind. By good play and sustained passing the Clyde forwards replied with a smart run to the other end, where McInnes sent a stinging shot into goal. Haddow saved splendidly, but the Clyde were again dangerous a few minutes later, when Harvie almost score with a grand cross shot. After fifteen minutes play, the Rangers got into a fine stride, and steadily forcing the Clyde back, attacked with great strength. McPherson shot into goal from the line, and rushing into goal in a body the other forwards assisted to capture the Clyde goal. The Clyde succeeded in equalising, McIntosh quickly taking advantage of a very difficult opening. The visitors were working hard for an addition to the score, and it seemed imminent after thirty-five minutes play, for once the ball was on the verge of going through, when Proudfoot handled it right under the bar. The referee promptly awarded a penalty kick, to the Rangers. Andrew McCreadie was entrusted with the kick, and made no mistake the ball shooting like a rocket past McCorkindale, who had no chance of saving. At halftime the score stood – Rangers 2: Clyde 1. The visitors commenced the second half very auspiciously for within two minutes from the kick off they has the ball through the Clyde goal for the third time. It was a somewhat lucky goal for the ball came out, McCorkindale fell, and the ball rebounded through the goal off one of the home halfbacks. Result – Rangers 3 goals: Clyde 1 goal.
