Match Trivia

These teams met on Rugby Park, Kilmarnock in a friendly fixture. The Rangers were minus Gow and Reid, whose places were taken by McFarlane and McKenzie. The Kilmarnock had a strong team. In the first half the home team played with the wind, and had the best of the play, scoring 2 goals from the feet of Hamilton and Brodie. The Rangers made occasional runs into the Kilmarnock territory, but were never really dangerous. The Light Blues commenced the second half well, and put on a heavy pressure, but Killie’s defence was exceptionally strong. Cowan threw out several lighting shots, and the halfback division were playing a grand game, Hamilton being the beau of the field. With 15 minutes to go, the Killie pulled themselves together, and put on some really brilliant play, the Lyle – Tannanhill wing being specially prominent. No further scoring occurred a hardly contested game ending in favour of the Kilmarnock by 3 goals to 0.
