Match Trivia
The ground was very heavy, Cambuslang kicked off, Rangers however got away with a dash, and scored at once, Allan having the honour. Cambuslang made an effort to make good their loss, but the visitors were soon back again, and the home goal, was once more subject to a vigorous attack, in the midst of which a free kick brought relief. After this Cambuslang got up the field, and Gourlay had a chance of shooting, but McKenzie had no difficulty in saving. A nice bit of passing by Allan gave the Rangers a look in, but the ball rebounded from the bar, and was subsequently sent past. Some time after the home team skilfully piloted the ball up, and a goal seemed a certainly, but G Smith sent it over. A similar attempt a few minutes later also failed. At the end of 20 minutes McFarlane put on the second point for the Rangers. During the remainder of the first half Cambuslang was seldom across the centre of the field, and at halftime the score was – Rangers 3 Cambuslang 0. Play resumed amid a heavy fall of snow. Collins shifted to back, and did better, but over Cambuslang as a whole there was no improvement, and the Rangers continued to have by far the best of the play, Phillips being frequently called upon. After 25 minutes the Rangers added a fourth, and five minutes later a fifth. Although decidedly in the shade, the home team had one or two looks in, but the Rangers goal was never seriously threatened. Towards the end the play opened up a bit, with a slight tendency to the Rangers side, but the efforts of the home team were unavailing, and the game, which had been even all through ended – Rangers 5 goals; Cambuslang 0 goals.
