These teams met at Maxwell Park, Pollockshaws, in the first round of the Glasgow Cup. Fraser led off for the Pollockshaws, who had the advantage of a slight rise in the ground. The ball was kicked over to the left wing, and the ‘Shaws almost scored. Rangers however returned, and D Gow unexpectedly put the ball through. The Rangers were fortunate when the chances came, and Allan safely put the ball past Hazlett. At this stage the ‘Shaws lost the services of McFetridge, who was hurt, and shortly after the Rangers swarmed round the opposite goal, and Robin put the ball through. During the biggest part of the first half the game was evenly contested, each side alternately having the upper hand. The result at halftime was – Rangers 3; Pollockshaws 0. In the second half Fairlie sent the ball through, raising the hopes of the ‘Shaws supporters. An exciting scrimmage took place at the home teams goal, where the Rangers had a shot at goal from both corners followed up by a foul against the ‘Swaws two yards from goal, but it was safely sent out. The Rangers however retured , and Wyllie put the ball through. Towards the close of the game the Rangers scored again, and the result was – Rangers 5 goals; Pollockshaws 1 goal.
