Match Trivia

These teams met at Cappielow Park in splendid weather. The Rangers kicked off 20 minutes behind time, and in less than one minute scored a goal. For the next ten minutes they had the play much their own way, when they again scored. Morton now pulled themselves together, and gave the strangers quite enough to do. Gillespie and McColl made some line runs for their club, but were unlucky at goal. Two fouls were got off McIntyre. The remainder of the first half was keenly contested, but no more goals were scored up till half time. On resuming, the Rangers worked the ball up, but it went past. Morton quickly got the ball to the other end, and had a couple of tries at goal, but without success. Morton now had the best of the play, and after 15 minutes scored their first goal. Five minutes afterwards they equalised. McIntyre caused Morton to get a foul, but the ball was run past. Hard and fast play followed both teams doing their best to put on the winning point. About four minutes before the finish the Morton again scored, and the strangers failing to equalise the game finished – Morton 3 goals; Rangers 2 goals.
