These teams engaged in a friendly match at Whiteview, Whiteinch the ground of the Thistle. Both teams were fully represented. The Rangers kicked off half an hour late. Play was then transferred to the Rangers left, and Robertson scored the first goal for the Thistle. The game for some time was confined to the Rangers territory, the Thistle putting on a severe pressure. The visitors however, pressed hard and bore down on their opponent’s goal, where Mackie equalised the game. After this the Thistle broke away and Soutar put the ball through. The result at halftime was – Thistle 2, Rangers 1. In the second half the Rangers equalised after two minutes play. The excitement was now intense, and each man played with increasing vigour. From a tussle in midfield, the ball was passed down on the Rangers goals, where McLean put it through. This was repeated ten minutes later by the Thistle.
