Match Trivia
This match was played on the ground of the former, Ibrox Park, and ended in their favour by ten goals to none. The strangers won the toss, and the home team kicked off. Within five minutes Wylie scored the first goal out of a scrimmage, and immediately after J Gow with a high shot, succeeded in registering a second. The Rangers took the game entirely in their own hands, and after several fine runs McKenzie succeeded in scoring a third point, which was rapidly followed by a fourth from the toe of Muir. The Rangers pressed, and had several good shots at Wilkie’s charge, but did not score again during this half. In the second round the Rangers had the wind in their favour, and again took the game in their hands, and shortly secured a corner flag kick, which, however was fruitless. Muir had some capital shots, but Wilkie was not to be baffled, and the ball was returned with vigour. Another corner flag kick fell to the Rangers, but nothing came of it. Shortly after a third corner flag kick fell to their lot, and this time was successful. The goals now followed in rapid succession five more being scored in this half. The strangers during the game played very fairly, but could not circumvent the Rangers. When time was called the Rangers were leading by 10 goals to 0.
