This game came off on the ground of the former, and ended in favour of the visitors by three goals to two. The Rangers won the toss, and the Athletic kicked off, and Gray then carried the ball up the left wing, and shot very near the goal, and Watt made the first goal for the Athletic. Gray on getting the ball took it again up the left wing and in a scrimmage the leather was driven through the Rangers goal, thus adding another goal to the Athletic score. The Rangers then pressed hard upon their opponent’s goal, but were not able to score owing to the fine playing of the Athletic backs. At halftime the game stood as follows – Athletic 2 Rangers none. Play being restarted, the Rangers ran the ball up to the Athletic goal, but were repulsed. After this the visitors again got the ball and sent it through the Athletic goal. A second goal was scored shortly after by the Rangers. Soon the Rangers sent the leather a third time through the Athletic posts. No more scoring took place on either side and the Rangers won by three goals to two.
