Match Trivia
Benefit Tournament. This tournament between four of the leading Glasgow clubs came off at Hampden Park on Saturday. The tournament was got up by the Officers of the regiment with a view of adding to the funds for a new drill hall. Saturday’s affair must have proved highly beneficial, as there was a great gathering of the pals of the sport. At the time of starting there were at least 4000 people in the enclosure, the south stand being fully well filled by a fashionably dressed gathering among them were many ladies. The band of the regiment was in attendance, proved a decided hit, and the music was greatly appreciated. The competing teams were Rangers, Cowlairs, Queen’s Park and 3rd L.R.V. The games were of 20 minutes duration. The Rangers and Cowlairs semi-final tie first, the ‘light blues’ winning by a goal to nil, although it was anybody’s game until a few minutes from the end. Queen’s Park scored a similar victory over the 3rd L.R.V. Queen’s Park were thrown out by the Rangers in the final tie by a similar score after an extra ten minutes had been played.
