Match Trivia

Played on Kinning Park and ended in favour of the Rangers by four goals to one. The game was much interfered with by a strong wind, which blew from goal to goal. The Rangers kicked off and in less than a minute thereafter by good passing play they had the ball in front of their opponent’s posts. The scene of operations was now transferred to the other end of the field, where a desperate onslaught on Chalmers charge occurred, but the Rangers were equal to the emergency and cleared their lines in splendid style. For some minutes the Arthurlie pressed the home team, and the Kinning Park goal had some narrow shaves. The next point of interest was a dodging run up the left by Pringle. When about 30 yards from goal he passed the leather to Sommerville, who evaded both backs and goalkeeper and shot the ball through. At halftime the game stood two goals to nothing in favour of the Rangers. In the second round the Arthurlie scored one goal and their opponents other two so that the Rangers won as stated above.
