Match Trivia

About 6000 spectators assembled at Perrybar Birmingham on Saturday afternoon to witness a match between these teams. The Villa were minus the services of Apperley and J Simmonds but they played a fairly strong team the visitors being also well represented. The home team lost the toss Hunter starting the ball about five minutes after the advertised time. The game throughout was remarkably even both back divisions playing in good form. The Villa were the first to score a long shot of Whealey being headed through by one of the Rangers men. From a combined attack by the Rangers forward’s they equalised the score before halftime. During the second half the game was well contested but the home team from a corner kick taken by Davis managed to score the winning point a very pleasant game ending in a win for the Villa by two goals to one. For the Villa Riddell played grandly in the back division and Vaughton was the best of the forwards. The feature in the Scotch was the grand goalkeeping of Gillespie.
