Match Trivia
At Hamilton Park Kilmarnock, the Glasgow team were without Duncan and Inglis (who were playing for the Glasgow against Sheffield), Hamilton and Corbett and had their places filled with Swifts men. The Glasgow team had slightly the best of the first half Gillespie being only called on twice but at the end of the first half nothing had been scored by either team. On change of ends the Rangers had it all their own way. Graham (at halfback) Kerr (at back) McCall (at goal) played a splendid defensive game for the Portland the latter saving some good shots. On one occasion the Rangers goal had a narrow escape Gillespie having barely time to catch the ball when half a dozen of his opponents were on him. McGregor and Smith dribbled the ball to the other end, when the latter put in a good shot, which McCall struck out but McHardy being well up rushed the ball through. In this period the Rangers had nearly a dozen-corner kick but most of them were put behind and innumerable chances at goal at the call of time the Portland retired beaten by one goal to nothing.
