Match Trivia
If it were not for recollections of the unfavourable weather the contest between the Rangers and Nottingham Forest club might fairly be spoken of as one of the most enjoyable matches we have had this season. The merits of the teams were notwithstanding the results pretty equal, the play all through was marked by an adhesion on the part of both sides to the scientific principles of the game, and there was a very numerous attendance at Kinning Park. On account of the rain the ground was not of course in very good condition, and the wet further made the play heavy. The Rangers having kicked off the ball was kept flitting about the field and both companies of players went actively to work. During the first half the teams it was apparent were very well matched, excellent runs were obtained by both clubs, and ends had to be changed without an advantage having been record for either. In the second portion the local men had from almost the outset considerably the best of it, and several times made strong attacks upon the post of their opponents who have to thank their goalkeeper for the excellent manner in which he defended their lines. The Nottingham on the other hand by some admirable passing tactics, had more than one run down but was never able to get right up to the Rangers post. Shortly before time was called the resident team sent the ball twice under the tape and accordingly won a well-contested game
