Played on Ibrox Park before about 6000 spectators. In the first half the game was pretty evenly contested, but though Rangers frequently got within range of goal their shooting was very poor, and Montgomery had little or nothing to do. The visitors combined well and their long passes upset the Rangers defence and Nicol and Paton scored ere the interval. Halftime score – Motherwell 2 goals: Rangers 0. In the second half Rangers with the wind at their backs monopolised the play, and their shooting greatly improved, Speedie beating Montgomery in the first minute, and McColl who was not too well supported added a second and equalised the score. The pressure of the Rangers was very persistent, and from a penalty kick Speedie secured the third and winning goal. Result – Rangers 3: Motherwell 2. Gate money, £141, stands £17, total £158
