Match Trivia

A match between team’s representatives of the Rangers and Lugar Boswell was played on Saturday on the ground of the home club at Kinning Park. The Rangers kicked off and played for the first half against a slight wind, which was blowing across the ground. For some time the game was a pretty equal character the Rangers showing some fine passing while their opponents seemed to excel in running and long shots. About twenty minutes after the start however the home team got into close proximity to the strangers goal and McKenzie then succeeded in passing the ball through the posts. Nettled at the lost they had sustained the strangers now made a determined attack upon the goal of their advertisers but all their efforts were fruitless and halftime was called before any other definite result had been attained. For some time after the second kick off the Lugar Boswell were hard pressed by the home team, the game being played pretty much in the strangers territory. Still although experiencing a few narrow escape the strangers managed to held their own, and ultimately made a fine run up the field to the opposite posts when Goldie dexterously kicked through the ball, thus making the score equal on each side. After this the match was of a give and take nature till the close and ended in a draw. I see it announced elsewhere that the Rangers have decided to change their colours from a shabby blue jersey, to one with a white and blue stripes, the former to be half an inch and the latter an inch. I am exceedingly pleased to hear of this change, for on several occasions last year I thought the Rangers looked all the world like a parcel of fleshers. Credit is due to the gentlemen who suggested the change, and I would hint that his name should be immortalised in some shape or for.
