Match Trivia
There was a sensational opening and thrills in abundance at Ibrox Park, where the Hibs proved themselves poor opponents to the Rangers. In three minutes Muirhead accepted a pass from Paterson and headed the ball past Scott and into the net. That was but the prelude to a succession of goals for Rangers who scored at regular intervals, until they counted five before half-time. Paterson undoubtedly the main man in the Ibrox attack, although strangle enough he had none of the goals on his own account. In twenty minutes Archibald caught up a cross off the left winger and shot straight and true, but apparently afraid something might go wrong Cairns rushed in and gave the ball a finishing touch and almost burst through the net at the same time. Then Cunningham scored a braw goals from an accurate pass from Muirhead. Cairns a minute later, accepted a pass from his centre forward and found little difficulty in adding No 4. When Cunningham scored No 5 the Hibs cup of bitterness was full to overflowing. It might have been expected that the Ibrox pros. would have shown some mercy in the second moiety, and so they did, else the scoring might easily have been doubled. Of course, they could not help scoring on occasions, and Cunningham added a sixth, and soon after a seventh goal. It was a regular debacle, and at no time did the Hibs look like a match for the rampant Light Blues, whose forwards gave an exhibition , especially in the second half, of a class of football seldom seen. The most merciful criticism of the Edinburgh players is to say that surely they were caught off colour
