Match Trivia
The concluding League fixture between these teams was played at Ibrox Park, Govan. The Celtic lost the toss, and kicked off against the wind. McCallum tipped the ball to Flannigan, who was smartly stopped by Mitchell. Play was confined to midfield for a short time, but Kerr ultimately got away on the wing. He sent in a fine pass which Cullen mad no effort to save and H McCreadie lying handy he headed through. Again the Rangers took up the running, and for several minutes Reynolds and Doyle had their work cut out for them; Doyle in particular was playing a grand game. Halftime result Rangers 1 goal: Celtic 0. The Rangers re-started, and for a few minutes they had the play at the Celtic end. By a strong kick Kyle relieved, and play was transferred to the other end. Muir in defence sent the ball into touch. A little later Cunningham had a try from a pass by Gallacher. He shot hard, but the ball went past the post. The Rangers retaliated, and Kerr tried a shot, but with the same effect. The Celtic strove hard to equalise, while the Rangers tied all the fair means in their power to frustrate their efforts. At last the Celts gained their point. Final result – A draw, 1 goal each.
